Description

Crimson Clover grows well in any type of well drained soils, preferring sandy loam soils. It will perform badly in highly acidic or alkaline soils. This type of clover prefers to grow in soils with a pH of 5.5-7.0. For winter annual use, crimson clover should be seeded six to eight before the first average frost date. For summer annual use, plant as soon as the frost has past.

Crimson clover, as a winter annual, is usually planted in the late summer to early fall. It can be used in pastures, hay, pollinator enhancement, silage mixes, or used as a winter cover for soil protection or green manure crop for soil improvement.
